I will wholeheartedly echo James' concerns about DCEP. China wants to displace the USD as the world's reserve currency. Cash is rarely used now in Chinese markets. Everyone swipes with Alipay, even for minor purchases. Digital cash is already mainstream, and they're several years ahead of anything in the West. Now add China's social credit system into the mix and you can see the enormous coercive power this gives the CCP, internationally as well as domestically.
